May Cabin Crew Career Advise
by Mihaela Moise, former QR Cabin Services Director
I would like to start this article by ensuring you that we are more than happy to answer your questions. I hope my advice will help you a lot to get the cabin crew job.
Bryan, Zimbabwe: Hello there wanted to know if it is possible to attend the assessment day without invitation, if you have what it takes to be a cabin crew but still feel like attending and proving that you are worth hiring. can they chase you away?
I recommend you not to go without an invitation. If you attended the Open Day and did not receive the invitation means you did not pass to the next stage of the interview. Apply again in few months.
Mubashir, India: Hi greeting for the day. I have 3 years experience with Etihad airways as a ground staff in third party. Do you think a certificate of cabin crew service would help join an airline?
Usually helps if you want to join a local company, if you do the cabin crew school in India. For sure any training will help you learn more about the cabin crew job and recruiters expectations during interviews.
Raani, Jeddah: Could you please recommend me how to get the job as a cabin crew?
I think you should start by arranging nicely your CV then apply for all the airlines. Make sure you have experience in customer service and good references from former employers.
Kimy, Spain: Hi I am wondering if you can help me. I have an interview with Emirates and I have spent £350 to travel down. I want this job more than anything!! I know about the reach test, but I can only reach 211 cm on the very ball of my foot. Can you tell me, is it a waste of time going? Will I be sent home in the first 5 minutes or is there a chance they could like me and keep me.
Hi. You should try your luck, however it all depends of the recruiters. You know this arm reach is because you need to fly on big aircrafts and to reach extremely fast safety equipment that is placed quite high.
Gaurav, India: I will attend a cabin crew interview with Qatar Airways in Delhi. Will you suggest something to help me pass the interview?
Be the best version of yourself, talk politely, express your desire to fly, show your skills and experience in a positive light. Good luck!
Yalla, Nepal: Hey. My height is 5.2. Can I get the cabin crew job as well as for ground staff?
Yes, you can become a cabin crew and a ground staff. It all depends of the airlines requirements that you need to go through.
Ritah, Uganda: Hi there, sorry to be bothering but I wanted to ask about the EASA cabin crew attestation. What exactly does it means and signify? When applying for a non-experience crew job is it a requirement? Thanks in advance.
Hi. If you want to start flying for ACMI-charter airlines most of them doesn’t have the time to keep you one month in training, so you need to already have this EASA attestation. You can get it by going to a cabin crew school and passing the final exams. The prices are around 1000 euros. If you want to get it for free then you can go for Wizz Air or Ryanair interviews and they will provide free training.
Juliet, Kenya: Hello. Can someone be a cabin crew with dread locks?
It is quite difficult to find an airline accepting this hair style. Most probably you can be cabin crew for Ethiopian airline or any African company.
Mona, France: Is it necessary to have a EU or European passport when applying for a European airline?
Yes, as you need to be able to live and work in European bases with all the required papers for residents.
Arman, U.K.: How much should be the body weight of a male candidate in order to get through the selection process for Qatar Airways?
Your weight should be in proportion to your height. Recruiters will not check your BMI index. This requirement is because you need to fit comfortably in the crew jump-seat and in your uniform.
