How to be safe during Coronavirus time?
Some cabin crew are still operating these days flights in order to reunite families stranded abroad. Repatriation flights are dangerous so you should watch out and protect yourself. On March 26th, 2020 EASA (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) issued a guideline on Management of Crew Member during Coronavirus (SARS-CoV2) pandemic.
↕️What should you do in order to be safe?
- Facial masks should be worn by crew members having direct contact with the passengers at all times and replaced regularly, at intervals not exceeding 4 hours.
- Limit your visits to the flight deck to the greatest extent possible.
- Avoid touching passengers and their belongings at all times.
- Measure your body temperature twice a day (at least).
- Monitor yourself for symptoms such as fever, persistent coughing, or any difficulties in breathing.
- Inform immediately, clearly the operator of potential signs of infection.
The airlines should do the following:
- Provide to the entire crew operating into high risk areas guidance for health self-monitoring.
- When rostering crew, the aircraft operator should as much as possible, maintain the same teams in order to avoid cross contamination.
- Make all efforts that, in an aircraft with more than one lavatory, one should be blocked for the exclusive use of the crew, preferably the one in the front.
- Instruct their flight deck and cabin crew regarding any extra requirements.
